Thank you for considering Roman Music Therapy Services for your internship. We are excited and proud to be an integral part of educating the newest members of our profession. At Roman Music Therapy Services (RMTS), you will have the unique experience of working alongside a close-knit team of music therapists, clinical supervisors, faculty supervisors, and administrative staff members. We are a community-based organization and serve people across eastern Massachusetts. This will afford you the opportunity to learn and grow while serving a diverse client population ranging in age from birth through end-of-life in a variety of individual and group settings.

In addition to fulfilling the AMTA “National Roster Internship Guidelines” requirements, at RMTS you can expect the following benefits:

  • $250 monthly stipend for 8 months
  • Paid Student Membership in AMTA
  • $250 Stipend towards conference expenses
  • Sprouting Melodies™ Online Training
  • $10 coffee card each month
  • Mileage Reimbursement (65.5 cents standard Federal mileage reimbursement rate per mile between sessions- not including first or last drive of the day)

If you are interested in applying, please complete and submit the Application Form below for Music Therapy Internship and related materials. Upon receipt of all materials, we will schedule an initial Zoom interview to help us get to know you and you to know us. This is a good way to make sure RMTS is a good match for your choice in internship.

If this confirms that RMTS seems like a good fit for you, we’ll move to the next step: a group interview on Zoom with the Internship Director and Supervising Therapists. Following this, select applicants will be invited for the final step, an on-site, in-person visit at the RMTS office in Wakefield, MA. This includes observation and/or participation in music therapy sessions with Supervising Therapists and an audition.

For the audition, candidates should prepare:

  • 2 clinical songs on guitar with different styles/genres, time signatures, keys, strumming patterns, etc. (plan on singing while accompanying yourself). One of your clinical songs on guitar should be presented as a structured intervention (include intended goals and/or populations served).
  • 1 clinical song on piano/keyboard with different styles/genres, time signatures, keys, etc. (plan on singing while accompanying yourself).
  • The audition also includes an improvisation experience facilitated by the interviewers.

We hope that this sounds like a good fit for you and your aspirations as a music therapist! If so, please complete and submit your application and related materials below to donna@romanmusictherapy.com for consideration.

If you have any questions prior to moving forward with your application, please don’t hesitate to contact Donna directly.
