We are currently looking for Board Certified Music Therapists to join our team and work with our partner organizations in medical settings and in the community. We are particularly looking to expand our team with Staff Music Therapists who will collaborate with colleagues within our organization and with our partners to deliver evidence-based music therapy interventions that address the physiological, psychological, and developmental needs of infants and their families in the NICU. Candidates with prior experience or training in NICU music therapy, medical music therapy, or early childhood music therapy are preferred, but we are also able to provide training for the right candidates.

Not only will you have consistent weekly hours in the hospital setting, but you will also be able to continue to develop your clinical skills in other settings as well to grow as a clinician.

Example of Duties:

  • Use music therapeutically to support infants and their families admitted into the NICU by incorporating professional expertise and knowledge related to human development and healthcare experiences.
  • Design and implement music therapy sessions based on patient/family needs using techniques including developmental music therapy, Multimodal Neurological Enhancement, live music singing, and promoting caregiver/parent voice experiences.
  • Monitor patient progress and provide documentation related to objectives and goal achievement.
  • Advocate for services and educate stakeholders, partners, colleagues and parents and support research initiatives.
  • Assess developmental needs of patients/families and establish a plan of care.
  • Document all music therapy sessions within required time period, including logs, reports, assessment and treatment plans, as well as client communications, in electronic medical records system.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude to all clients, prospects, and other professionals at all times.
  • Maintain a MT-BC credential through CMTE’s and participation in professional conferences, including but not limited to, music therapy conferences. Engage in regular clinical supervision with both the Clinical Coordinator and other members of the team. Function within an interdisciplinary work environment.

Employment Standards, Qualifications, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited Music Therapy program
  • Board Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists
  • Strong knowledge of infant development, child development, developmentally appropriate practices, patient assessment, and evaluation.
  • Prior experience or training in NICU music therapy, medical music therapy or early childhood music therapy preferred. Training available for the right candidates.
  • Strengths in problem solving/analysis, decision making, clinical supervision, and communication.
  • Experience related to programming of evidence-based medical services for families and children with prior experience in a pediatric health care setting  desired.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

Employment Type: Full-time position with medical and community music therapy placements to build a full caseload.
