Board Certified Music Therapist
Marcie is a proud member of the Roman Music Therapy Services team! She came to the field of music therapy from a career in dance and theatre performance, transitioning from works on historic NYC stages and using her B.A. training in dance from Point Park University. She earned her M.A. from Lesley University in Expressive Arts Therapies and Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in music therapy, becoming a board certified music therapist 12 years ago.
She has collaborated with many interdisciplinary educational and medical teams to promote development and wellness through obstacles such as: neurological, physical, visual, and hearing impairments; intellectual disabilities; and brain injury. She has also served the elderly with dementia and cognitive decline, as well as individuals with mental illness, and has used music and breath work for successful pain management. Marcie plays guitar, piano, flute, saxophone, ukulele, and hand drums with her clients—individuals and groups; and finds engaging in music therapy uniquely rewarding across all phases of development in the lifespan.
Personally, Marcie is passionate about her husband and 5 children and volunteers with the catechesis and music of their parish. She grew up singing in harmony with her parents and 4 siblings. Any creative endeavor is a channel of thanks to her mother and father for teaching and inspiring her sense of self through music and art. She speaks Italian proficiently for her in-laws, with whom she spends a joyful 5 weeks every year, either with them in Italy or here in New England.
She is confident in music therapy and grateful to have found a fitting and fulfilling career.
